How Breathing Impacts Your Nutrition, Blood Pressure, and Health

Featuring breath coach Sarah Hutcherson + how to learn more about my new protocol for lowering blood pressure

Breathing is automatic so we rarely think about it, but the way you breathe impacts everything from blood pressure to sleep quality, to brain health, to your ability to make good decisions about your health. Sarah makes breath work feel approachable and attainable to all of us. If this is something you’re excited to learn about but it feels like one👏 more👏 thing👏, remember to start small and keep it simple.

This conversation created a wonderful, welcome feeling of calm for me, even just hearing Sarah’s voice. I hope it does the same for you.

Thank you for joining us, Sarah!! 🤍

Notes from the episode:

  • in a very rudimentary nutshell: Breathing, stress, vagus nerve, HRV are a co- mingling system always communicating to each other. If you can slow your breath, you can signal safety and calm to your body and brain.

  • This has a huge impact on blood pressure, respiratory rate, VO2max, lung capacity, and oxygenation which also shows up in energy and performance.

  • Calm & safety is the place at which we can make our wisest and most functional decisions, on both a cellular and conscious level. A calmer nervous system allows us to think more deeply, execute on our plans to eat better, prioritize our health, and reach our goals. This is where success lives.

  • Sarah walks us through tapping to stimulate our vagus nerve at 19:20

  • Sarah guides me on counting my breath for one minute at 33:10

  • Snoring is never “normal”, and nighttime teeth grinding can be an indicator of suboptimal breathing at night. Ask your doctor or dentist about evaluating if this sounds like you.

  • Sarah’s preferred brand for nasal strips and mouth tape is Dream

  • She mentions the magnetic nostril band intake (more around min 44)

  • Link to Sarah’s very favorite tool, the Coregeous ball

If you’re looking to lower your blood pressure, I have a holistic protocol that addresses the root cause. Hint: breathing and nitric oxide are involved. Message me or schedule a free chat using the discovery call link below.
